Capital City Bikeway

Celebrating a
more bike-friendly
downtown.

In the midst of a long-term revitalization program that’s bringing new residents and businesses to downtown, Saint Paul unveiled an ambitious bike infrastructure plan. Designed to make the city’s historic downtown more accessible and attractive for people riding bikes, walking, running, driving, or using transit, the plan’s centerpiece was a network of off-street bicycle paths traversing some of the city’s oldest streets and connecting retail and restaurant districts with commercial and residential areas. Working in partnership with Toole Design Group, Little was challenged to create a name, brand identity and wayfinding system for the path network. We crafted a recognizable identity that integrated seamlessly with intuitive guides and directional signage, drawing from the state capital’s legacy of industry and reflecting Saint Paul’s historic character as well as its aspirations.
